About

The Bashor Homeless Mens Shelter is a non-profit organization started in 1980 by an ecumenical group concerned about the growing problem of homelessness in Atlanta. As a ministry of hospitality, it has evolved into a winter night shelter serving the needs of 90-100 homeless men in downtown Atlanta from November 1 through March 31. Open seven nights a week, the shelter provides guests with a hot meal, bagged lunch, and breakfast; showers; access to medical and foot care; and recreational activities such as yoga, basketball, and art.

One of the things that makes the shelter so unique, is that we are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. In 2022 The Bashor Homeless Mens Shelter changed its name from Central Night Shelter to honor the legacy of the work done by Mark and Katie Bashor.
